One of Pensacola’s most recognizable and historic houses of worship — Temple Beth El, at the corner of Palafox and Cervantes streets downtown — has just completed an ambitious and far-ranging renovation of its sanctuary and adjacent buildings.

The two-year, $3 million project has resulted in the modernization and expansion of all areas. Temple Beth El’s sanctuary has new seating, a new sound system and additional lighting; the Max L. Bear Auditorium has been remodeled and updated to accommodate a wider range of social events; the Religion School building has been connected to the building that houses the sanctuary, social hall and kitchen; and lobby areas have been given a more modern look.
